Other parts of life intervened following race 6. But - to conclude the day's events:
Both (?) halves of Calabrese-Canani entry scratch out of race 7, a $16K claimer, as well as two other horses. That changed things just a t-a-d. Foxie's Boy now strongly favored, loose on lead (23.13 seconds, 46.71, and an actually-kind-of-quick 1:11.87 on way to 7fs in 1:25.11), home for trainer Brueggemann, claimed by trainer Dorris, as in Tom, not Chris.
Front-end bias? Not quite. Pinemast, Greytap, Rylee River were last, second last, and third last coming into the far turn of race 7, an N1X around two turns on Poly, and finished one-two-three off a half-mile split of 48.66.
And thought Catalano-trained Master Sergeant would be defined chalk in race 9, Poly $25K N2L claimer at one mile, but he was strangely 5-2 second choice behind 2-1 Peitz-trained Aswaaq. The favorite ran out, the Catalano got his picture taken.
Thursday synopsis: No biases. Turf played around par, perhaps a tick below. Poly was somewhat slot, but not nearly as slow as week ago Thursday.
