Well, nothing like speed holding in race 1, despite the cool, damp conditions. Favored (now a perfect 4-4 in being overbet) Cap'n Felix dueled with bet-down Captain Pievo through an opening quarter-mile in a quick 22.58 seconds, but Felix was finished before even making a half-mile. Pievo dropped away soon thereafter, and stalking Outlaw Zen took over at the top of the stretch, opening up something like five lengths. Then he put his feet in the ground, and was saved by the wire from defeat at the hands of stretch-running Suchafool. Final time 1:12.64 actually pretty quick for this low class level (given recent AP Poly-history), but not in comparison to that opening quarter-mile split.
Race 2, 2yo maidens. Readybdancing the livest one on the board for race 2, 2yo MSW sprinters. Bet to 5-2 to open off a 12-1 morning line. Ravin Lunatic and Dawnie Macho, either of whom could have opened up at 6-5 or something, are both 7-2 with 17 MTP.
