That was not a fast time Wonderlandbynight just put up winning race 7 (five furlongs in 1:00.23), but second-time starting 2-year-old Illinois-bred was fairly impressive in victory. Sat just off pace this time after bumping at start and coming from behind in career debut. Daughter of Sky Mesa trained by Mike Reavis looks pretty solid for an Illinois-bred -- and she's pretty.
Wire-to-wire first-time Poly Dade Babe scored in race 6, a $17.5K N3L claimer rained off turf. Florent Geroux for trainer Danny Miller. Favored Maybe Baby abysmal.
And in race 5, another debut synthetic horse, Open Outcry, beat Quite a Handful in an N3X route allowance rained off turf. Same two horses ran one-two in an N2X on grass June 5. This winner rallied wide, and I see no bias to this racing surface.
