Rare twilight card here at AP. It's sunny and hot, but not quite as oppressively hot as forecast, and not as hot as it's supposed to be tomorrow. 85 degrees, pretty strong crosswind from the south, bout 14-18 mph.
Turf firm (quite firm) with rail in lane 2.
The Poly hasn't sped up much -- if at all -- since slow-playing Thursday and Friday cards. $25K 2yo maiden winner Playing A Joke in race 2 went 4.5 furlongs in 54.63 seconds!
Just watched Far From Shy, off since being claimed for $25K Jan. 27 at Gulfstream, stumble pretty badly at teh start of a $25K turf maiden -- and then go on to win by about, oh, 187 lengths. 8.5fs in 1:44 and change really fast for this class level. Second winner of the day for Calabrese-Canani, who also sent out aforementioned maiden winner Playing a Joke, a first-timer.
