Mason
Should note that Mason actually LOST with a first-time-with-trainer starter earlier on this card, though I thought Fusaichi Valentine actually ran all right for third in race 7. Mason on target in race 10 with $8.60 winner Cross Village, whose last had been at Tampa. Up goes the already hugely positive Mason ROI.
Cross Village got a great setup thanks to Tripp O Steel, who was bet down to 5-2, and proceeded to get into a speed duel with himself. 23.71 and 47.81 were taxing splits for this course, and no wonder Tripp backed up the last half-furlong. Final time in this N1X alw. of 1:42.77 for one and one-sixteenth miles also calls into question turf rating of "good."
Summing the day, no biases, and Poly produced times average to slow - making 2yo filly Dawnie Macho's 4.5fs track record in race 2 all the more impressive.
