Saturday conditions: Wet, perhaps more rain to come. A period of fairly heavy rain, with drizzle and fog, now. The temperature has dropped way down to 66 from 80-something yesterday. Northeast wind (cross/tail) about 12 mph.
Turf still being called firm. Turf rail in lane 3.
There's a 50 perecent chance of t-storms throughough the afternoon, so be prepared for conditions to change. As things stand at this moment, we are ripe for much quicker times on Poly, with the main track carrying speed. Know something more about that in 15 minutes or so.
Appears E.T. Baird is off his mounts today. Race 2, a 2yo MSW, has four scratches, but that was a big field to start with, and in general, light scratching today.
Do note Captain Pievo, one of two horses in race 1 for trainer Chris Dorris, sits at 3-1 off a 15-1 morning line right now. The race, a $10K Illinois maiden-claimer, looked impossible to me.
