Two-horse race on paper turned into two-horse race at finish, with Lemonade Kid holding clear Triple Check by a head in race 6. Both figured in this nine-furlong, Illinois-bred N2X turf allowance. The difference is Triple Check was 1-1, Lemonade Kid 2-1. I had Kid on top originally, turned my pick around -- and uttered an audible 'ugh' at the finish. Triple Check was back on short rest, which might not have helped. Lemonade Kid would've knocked out this condition long ago had he been kept to Ill.-bred grass races, of which he has had only a handful.
