Help? What's going on with the betting in race 6, the Saturday feature here? I full expected Shrewd Operator and Super Robusto to be the top two betting choices in this Polytrack sprint allowance. They are not. Big Looie, who has done nothing I can see to merit favoritism here, was sitting as the 2-1 chalk until a moment ago, when King A.J. dropped down to 2-1, with Looie at 5-2. Shrewd Operator has been flat on the board all along and currently sits at 7-2, while Super Robusto took early play, but also currently is at 7-2. Mambo Galliano and Amazing Results have been scratched. With AP Poly helping speed a bit yesterday and today, Shrewd Operator has a better chance of seeing out the 6.5 furlongs.
Granted, he was on a live horse in 9-5 favorite Hoodwinked, but nice patient ride by Eddie Perez to win race 5, an Illinois turf N1X allowance. Perez waited inside just behind the two leaders as Speed Ball cut off any outside path at the quarter pole, then slipped neatly through a narrow gap between the two leaders at the three-sixteenths and won easily. Hoodwinked now 2-2 on tur, and looks pretty okay.
