Put Rule by Night on your list of 3-year-olds that could be significant players in the second half of the year.
On Thursday, in his first start since a blowout 7 1-4-length maiden score on Jan. 23, Rule by Night won a first-level allowance race by 2 1-4 lengths over Storm On the Moon. Triple A. Rating, bet down to even-money, faded to third after chasing Rule by Night into the stretch.
Jockey Edgar Prado said: ``He ran very professional. He was waiting for me to ask him what to do.''
Prado took out his stick in the stretch, but never hit Rule by Night, who covered six furlongs in 1:10.30.
Toby Sheets, assistant to trainer Steve Asmussen, said Rule by Night missed some time after his maiden win due to ``foot issues.''
There are no immediate plans for Rule by Night, but something like the Grade 3, $100,000 Maryland Sprint Handicap at Pimlico on Preakness Day or the seven-furlong Woody Stephens on Belmont Stakes Day might not be out of the question.
